      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      10 Sept 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Zilingo

      Interview

Too bad experience. My F2F was scheduled at 6:30pm. After my office, I had to travel 1.5 hours in the rain to reach their place on time. On reaching, I find that there is no one to attend me. The HR who was supposed to meet me already left for the day. The security guard lead me to a conference room and brought me water. I was in touch with my consultant about the situation. She asked me to wait till she make some calls. They have a single floor office of a small size. I roamed around here and there passing time somehow. After one hour (7:30pm), another HR came to me. She asked me to wait for 10 more minutes as the interviewer is busy in some other meeting. I noticed that she was the same lady whom I saw chit-chatting with other colleagues since I came. Did she just came to know, that I was waiting for an hour? The interviewer was a young guy. He came after 10 minutes, then left again. He then came after 5 minutes, and then left again. The third time he came, he finally asked me to come with him to another room. Finally, my round started at 8pm. Without any introduction about the company or about himself, and without any question about myself, he started asking his questions. The questions were good. But even now, he was leaving again and again in the middle of the interview. I had many clarifications to make while solving the question but I was not able to. So, I moved in the direction he didn't want. Isn't your calendar booked with me? You have already wasted my time by being 1.5 hours late. At least feel some guilt before leaving. No emotions, no regret, no respect. I was asked one question on SQL and another on Java Iterator. I was not selected. When I asked my consultant for the feedback, she said "ds algo not strong" is what she received - though not a single question was asked on that.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

You have a database table that stores information about the price change of various product with time. It's append only table. Whenever the price of the product p1 is changed to c1 at time t1, a new row <p1 c1 t1> will be appended. product_id price time p1 10 4 p2 40 4 p1 20 5 p1 25 6 p2 55 7 ... Write an SQL query that will give the price of every product at time t1. e.g. at time 6 product_id price p1 25 p2 40 Note: Consider the case where two updates are made at the same time. Don't assume that the table is sorted by time.
