I went through the interview process, starting with the recruitment team, followed by two interviews with the hiring manager and his manager. The hiring manager appeared to have a good understanding of what he was looking for and demonstrated competence in his sales approach. However, his manager seemed clueless and had the belief that the sales manager should always be the best salesperson in the room. I tried to explain to him that this model might not scale well and that he should consider adopting a different approach. I suggested that he needed someone who could coach and train his team to improve their sales skills and make better hiring decisions for the sales team. During the interview, the manager shared numerous stories about his struggles to get into sales while living in Wales, but it seemed to me that he was still facing challenges in his current role. Ultimately, I decided that the role was not the right fit for me.
