I was approached by athenahealth via LinkedIn and had two rounds of phone interviews with the recruiter. The recruiter really liked my resume and felt that I woudl be a cultural fit. She was super responsive to my questions and follow-up asks. I was then selected to come in for an onsite interview in the Watertown complex. Prior to this, they wanted me to build out a project to showcase my style and my approach. I met with over 6 individuals, was given no breaks, and 1-2 fairly hostile team members. One team member that interviewed me actually had applied for my job (according to another interviewer) but had not received an offer to interview. No one smiled, they were super not friendly and asked a series of behavioral and project-focused questions. My presentation was savagely torn apart and not in a professional manner. The hiring manager never smiled, was incredibly cold, and while she sat down for a group interview -- blew off my 1:1 interview session. I was pretty drained after the experience. I didn't hear anything for over four weeks despite a few outreaches to check on the status. I received a form rejection letter nearly 2 months later -- after I expected a job at another company. I later found out that the entire team was laid off and had a toxic culture so I guess I dodged a bullet there but the experience could have been better.
