I proactively sent a self introduction deck to the company’s HR mailbox to demonstrate initiative, which led to an interview invitation.
The process started with a phone call from HR, asking which of the two available roles I was more interested in. I chose the Inside Sales position based on my original preference.
The first round was an online interview with the BU Sales Head, who was initially presented as my direct manager. (However, after joining, I found out he was not my actual direct manager. My new manager onboarded on the same day as I did. Additionally, the interviewer left the company three months after I joined :)
During this round, I was asked about my understanding of iKala’s Cloud and Nexus solutions offering, my understanding of the role, and my motivation for pursuing a career in sales. I was then invited to the next stage.
The second round was an on site interview scheduled one week later. This required preparing a presentation and delivering a live pitch. I had to presented my understanding of iKala Cloud and Nexus, as well as the overall BU product lines. I also selected a target industry and explained my go to market strategy, including why I chose that industry.
I shared my approach to cold calling, including what I would do before, during, and after calls, which received positive feedback from the interviewer.
After the presentation, the hiring manager stepped out, and HR continued the conversation to reconfirm my motivation and discuss compensation details.
I received the offer the next day.
