      Administrative Support Specialist Interview

      13 Mar 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Arlington, VA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at iTech AG (Arlington, VA) in Oct 2023

      Interview

It's disheartening when what begins as a promising opportunity devolves into a display of unprofessionalism and disregard. My journey with the company was a rollercoaster of highs and lows, culminating in an experience that left me questioning their integrity and values. It all began on October 20, 2023, when I got in contact with a third-party recruiter expressing interest in working for the company. Promptly, by October 22, 2023, we had scheduled the initial virtual interview. The interviewer, a seemingly knowledgeable and engaged individual, conducted the first round on October 24, 2023, setting a positive tone for the subsequent stages. The process progressed to a second interview in person on October 31, 2023, this time with two interviewers. The interactions were insightful, and the feedback provided was encouraging. I felt confident that I was making headway towards a potential role within the company. November 14, 2023, marked the third interview, conducted virtually. The discussions were promising, with hints suggesting that I was the top candidate. The prospect of joining the company seemed within reach, and I eagerly awaited further communication. However, what followed was silence. Despite my follow-up email and even the recruiter's attempts to establish contact, there was no response from the company. The lack of communication was concerning and demonstrated a lack of basic professional courtesy. Finally, on March 1st, 2024, I received a generic rejection letter, devoid of any personalized feedback or explanation for the abrupt halt in the interview process. The contrast between the promising feedback during the interviews and the sudden cessation of communication was stark and bewildering. While initially disappointed, I now realize that perhaps it was a blessing in disguise not to receive an offer. The experience exposed a glaring lack of professional ethics, empathy, and respect towards candidates. Being touted as their top candidate only to be left hanging without any closure reflects poorly on their organizational culture and values. In retrospect, this experience has reinforced the importance of professionalism and respect in every stage of the hiring process. The company may have missed out on a potential asset, but the lessons learned from this encounter are invaluable.
