      Interview

I was very excited about this company and position, but my interview experience left me with a quite negative perception of the company. My qualifications were perfectly aligned with the job description, which I made sure was reflected in my resume and cover letter. I had one, straightforward interview with a recruiter from HR (not a person from the actual team). The recruiter asked for basic core STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) stories, and I honestly felt like I nailed it. They really made it seem like they were desperate to hire more people, and the recruiter seemed pleased with me and used language that led me to believe that I would at least get another interview. Over a week later, I received a generic rejection email that started with "Dear [Candidate's Name]". This left me feeling so confused and disrespected, that they couldn't even bother to write my name into the email. I followed up asking for feedback, which of course they did not reply to. I found this rejection to be very unprofessional and frankly quite unnecessarily rude. I guess it was better than being ghosted, but I think the bar should be a bit higher than that.
