      Educator Interview

      22 Mar 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Vaughan, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at lululemon (Vaughan, ON) in Mar 2017

      Interview

First a group interview mine was just myself and one other girl. Personally I'm really self assured and confident when i go into interviews so I always walk away feeling 100%, got an email back from the manager to go in for a one on one and basically she ran through the same questions. I work at a yoga studio as a yoga consultant and have previous experience managing a retail store so again i went in with the notion that this interview was in the bag. Again she asked me what my plans were and how I practice mindfullness and i told her straight up that I'm getting my teacher training this summer, meditate everyday and play crystal sound bowls for chakra healing. Her facial expressions seemed puzzled and stuck like she didn't know how to register the information I was telling her, she kept blinking her eyes very hard and slowly, I felt very judged and as though she was looking down on me for being my authentic self. That being said I understood in that moment that i was not going to get this job and that lululemon is not a YOGA company, but they use that word to sucker in all of us who are aligned with that path, great marketing scheme but I find it unethical to make people believe you are one way only to operate on a different set of core beliefs for your own invested interest as a business. Proceed with caution, cause I thought they were a legitimate yoga company but clearly if they do not want to hire someone with experience managing a retail store and who works at a yoga studio they do not have true interest in spreading the awareness "that yoga rejuvenates our bodies and calms our minds, and one of the ways we practice giving without expectation is by sharing our love for yoga" (taken directly from their site). Clearly they love making more than actually spreading yoga.
