      1 May 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Diego, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at nliven systems (San Diego, CA) in Apr 2014

      Interview

Process took months. Was contacted by recruiter/HR person that worked for parent company, she was in Maryland. Finally set up phone interview with hiring manager, went well. He wanted to do a face to face. Met everyone in their new office. Interview went well from what I thought. Couple of guys were out, but the total size of the new company after layoffs (I know from reading previous reviews here that there were layoffs) is less than the number of reviews on Glassdoor. Thus, the company is not what it used to be. Most people at the company were new. I got the feeling that they were trying to just keep the company afloat. Offices were new, small and bare, nothing like the pictures posted on Glassdoor. I did not get one technical question. They just asked about previous products I had developed. Never talked with either of the 2 developers they had. One was an outside contractor. So they really had 1 developer in the company. I heard nothing from them for a couple of weeks, so I emailed them and they said the role had changed. They either could not be honest or they are unsure of themselves. Like I said the interviewers had no technical knowledge. It is too bad because they could have had someone who would have been great for them.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

None, it was very weird to be interviewed by people that had no experience or knowledge of technology.
