      Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Interview

      26 Oct 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Enfield, CT
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at the LEGO Group (Enfield, CT) in Feb 2020

      Interview

This was a positive experience for the most part. The first interview was on Skype with a recruiter based in Mexico, and his questions made it clear that he wanted to get to know me as a person - refreshing for a recruiter call. The second was a Skype interview with the hiring manager, based in London. Pretty standard, and we had a nice chat. Before the final, in-person interview in Enfield, I was asked to create two 5-minute presentations, one about a formative childhood experience and the other pitching an idea for a CSR initiative. I found both to be really fun to put together. When I showed up, the first thing I had to do was use LEGO bricks to represent something I'd bring to the team. I'd had a hint this might be something they'd ask, so I was prepared. After my presentations, which facilitated easy conversation, there were a few interview questions, but I appreciated that most were forward-looking: what I was interested in, what I would do in hypothetical situations. I thought it showed that they're interested in the candidate's potential rather than just their past accomplishments. In the end, the position was canceled due to COVID, so I'll never know what the outcome would have been. I will say that there seemed to be little negotiation on location, but that may have changed post-COVID. Enfield is a rural town not far from Hartford, so not an easy move for applicants who are likely from Boston and NYC. LEGO Education does have an office in Boston, but the LEGO Group does not.
