#InternSpotlight: Meet Avi, one of our 2025 IT Summer Interns. He's working with the Systems Application Development team and is responsible for automating processes and assisting with full stack development. A computer science major at the University of Florida, Avi works to build a foundational knowledge of core concepts and computational systems. This internship applies classroom lessons to real scenarios and provides a glimpse of where his career is headed. “I have worked on projects that involve backend systems with tools that tie directly into my interests. Getting to apply what I've learned in class, while also learning how larger infrastructures operate, is motivating.” Meeting other employees and interns has made a lasting impression. “Everyone comes from such different backgrounds, and it’s been great hearing their stories – whether it is someone switching into tech from a different field or someone from international borders – these conversations have made my experience feel personal and connected.” Thanks for working with #TeamCitizens this summer, Avi, and enriching our teams with your skills and new ideas. #InternSpotlight: Meet Brady, one of our 2025 Summer Interns. He's working as a law clerk in the Office of General Counsel, assisting with legal research, drafting motions, and preparing for hearings. This internship has been the perfect bridge between the classroom and real-world practice for Brady. “It has deepened my understanding of procedural rules, evidentiary standards, and the practical aspects of litigation. Being exposed to motion writing, case prep, and hearing strategy has reinforced what I’ve learned in law school and helped me develop a more practical legal mindset.” He’s an alum of the University of North Florida, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and is working toward his Juris Doctorate at Barry University School of Law. Working alongside our in-house counsel has been rewarding. Brady said, “Watching the progression of a case from start to finish – especially observing the defense strategy unfold during hearings – has given me a new appreciation for the level of preparation and precision needed.” We're glad #TeamCitizens could provide you with valuable experience, Brady. #InternSpotlight: Meet Edgar, one of our 2025 IT Summer Interns. He's working as a front-end developer designing and implementing a dashboard that will consolidate data from a database using an Application Programming Interface (API). This internship gave Edgar the opportunity to gain real-world experience, observe how enterprise tech solutions operate, and learn alongside experts in the field. "I'm glad to work on a real company project that has a lasting impact." Edgar is a Computer Science major at the University of North Florida (UNF). He learned about this internship opportunity at the UNF career fair and was encouraged to apply by a friend employed by Citizens. Over the course of the internship, Edgar has learned front-end development, including using APIs with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and React framework. His work has touched upon all areas of technology, software engineering, and more. "As a computer science student, this internship reinforced exactly what I have been learning and taught me new skills in a hands-on approach." #InternSpotlight: Say hi to Bhavana, one of our 2025 Summer IT Interns working as an App Developer on the Guidewire BillingCenter Team, who troubleshoots system bugs. She’s studying at the University of Florida with a Computer Science major and Mathematics minor. Working at Citizens during this internship has given Bhavana memorable experiences. She’s been learning about the operation and technical programming behind BillingCenter and gaining broader knowledge of the other insurance suite applications. "My favorite professional experience was finally fixing a bug I had been working on. However, my favorite moment with Citizens was during the Bingo work event where I had the opportunity to talk to all the managers and coworkers in a fun environment." Steven is a student at Penn State University, majoring in Cybersecurity Analytics and Operations. He discovered this internship opportunity while searching for IT internships on LinkedIn. Some of his responsibilities include creating documentation for activating accounts and accessing platforms, testing cloud-based contact center functions, and developing Python scripts to automate tasks. Being fully immersed at Citizens has been a boost for his overall experience. "There are always people I run into with Citizens lanyards who strike up conversations and ask about my internship.
