MASISA lets the chips fall where they may -- as long as they end up in its MDF (medium-density fiberboard) and particleboard. MASISA manufactures particleboard, fiberboard, and related products, such as doors in Latin America. The company sells its wood board products under such trade names as Placa Masisa and Facilplac. Customers include furniture makers and the construction industry; Masonite International accounts for more than 40% of its solid wood product sales. One of the largest forestry groups in the world, MASISA has more than 240,000 hectares of forestry and reserve land in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Venezuela. Subsidiary Forestal Tornagaleones manages MASISA's timberlands in Argentina and Chile.
