Micro Imaging Technology (formerly Electropure) is developing laser-based technology that detects microbes and microorganisms in water. Micro Imaging Technology hopes to commercialize its products for applications such as food inspection and water testing, but the company hasn't had enough money to do so. In 2005 the company sold the assets of its Electropure EDI subsidiary, a maker of ion-permeable membranes and deionization devices; Electropure then changed its name to Micro Imaging Technology, effective 2006. In 2007 the company sold and installed two bacteria identification systems in Tokyo. Former US Postmaster General Anthony Frank owns a 45% stake in Micro Imaging Technology.
