Description The Open Group is a pioneer among information technology consortia. The not-for-profit organization promotes "vendor and technology neutral," or open platform, software and operating systems. It operates from offices in the US, Europe, South Africa, and the Asia/Pacific region, and it has more than 300 members in about 20 countries. The group offers research, test development, planning, and IT management services to members and other entities. It sees the day when all computers across the globe work together efficiently, a vision it calls "Boundaryless Information Flow." The Open Group's roots go back to two IT industry organizations that were formed in the 1980s.
