Pros

Full time work schedule was 4 days on 3 days off. Physically active. Generous benefits package.

Cons

High Performance Team model does not provide adequate supervision for such a high risk job. Risk of severe injury by residents. Senior Leadership Team is out of touch with what is happening on the floor. Toxic work environment. Staff do not respect each other. It's one of only a handful of employers in the Calais area and they take advantage of that by mistreatment of employees. No raises. Understaffed residential units which put employees and residents at risk of harm. Bad reputation with the local police department. Senior Leadership are over valued and over paid while long term, high performing employees have low incomes. Mentally and emotionally exhausting Under funded and employee use their own money to fund activities and supplies for the children.

Pros

Structuring of time was pseudo-negotiable.

Cons

I was "given the opportunity to resign" the day after I expressed my concern that my job description was beyond the scope of one person. Supervisor was out for the first month I worked there, with frequently nobody in the office but me. Support was sparse. Other new-hires expressed having had to construct their own tasks from the ground up with little to no training after employment lengths as long as six months. Every employee I met indicated that their primary reason for staying was out of concern for their clients, and that they were ignoring their own symptoms of burnout, feelings of under-preparedness, and safety concerns. Upon expressing my concerns that I was undertrained for certain tasks, I was shamed by my peers for perceiving myself to have more to learn in order to feel capable of the position I was stepping into. Supervisors did nothing to step in. In fact, I was assigned said tasks days after making these comments and with no warning. Near strangers opened up to me with concerns of abuse from the organization.
