Pros

Good pay, good benefits, decent amount of time off, some supervisors are understanding. If you commit to being problematic, you will not be fired.

Cons

Most of the leadership and supervisors are incredibly racist, sexist, and transphobic. Org is run by rich gay men who claim to be anti-racist because they have managers who are POC or trans. When Black staff bring up problems, they are punished. Promotions are reserved for staff who stand by racism and white supremacy. Black staff are more likely to be fired.

Pros

There are actually no pros to working for this organization. There is no employee development, no effective training, and no employee appreciation. At least they pay for your healthcare.

Cons

No growth, no policies or procedures to aid workflows. This company is 97% reactive and 2% proactive. The other 1% of this company is that it has no idea what is going on. It is highly stressful and all departments work against each other rather than with each other. The company doesn't match its mission statement. If a patient can not pay they are turned away, even if they are HIV positive and newly diagnosed. Also, providers turn patients away who need STI treatment, they are very lazy. Colleagues talk to each other and treat each other like trash. Make sure you negotiate well with your salary because they believe in overworking you.

Pros

A lot of mission driven people. Aidswalk you felt so connected to the organization. Being able to say your work helps people in a very caring manner.

Cons

A lot of dead air and not a positive work culture day to day. While I didn’t stay very long I saw coworkers who stayed in the same role for years without progressing. I knew I had to get out ASAP if I wanted to progress my career.
