Pros

- Company overall seems to have some good people - They do work to be inclusive - Outside of the onboarding team, there is lots to learn and some solid teams

Cons

Where to start! The onboarding team is one of the worst run teams with one of the worst managers I, and many others on that team, have ever seen. They consistently show how unfit they are in managing people by bullying, disregarding any and all feedback, and constantly accusing the team of not knowing how to do their jobs. - You will be micromanaged to the extreme. You are required to track your time, follow documentation exactly with no variation, and justify anything you do. You are meant to be a vending machine, not a "Project Manager". If you are too busy/tracking to much time, then you are bad at time management and need to get better. If you are to slow/not tracking enough time, then you aren't doing your job properly. - Feedback is either completely ignored or immediately dismissed. Hint: If everyone on the team is saying the same thing, open your ears and listen instead of dismissing it without explanation or that people need to learn how to do their jobs. You will have absolutely no input on how the team functions, regardless of experience or feedback you give - Consistent bullying, dismissive, and accusatory language in chats/meetings to individuals and groups of people. You saying "this is just how you come off" is not a reasonable response and is on YOU to improve as the manager. The fact they have advanced despite this shows how out of touch senior leadership is - The employee is the enemy. Anything less than a 5 star review from clients results in an immediate investigation where, again, you are accused/told you essentially do not know how to do your job. There is no understanding of why a client might have been difficult, and no discussion of what happened from your perspective. Purely accusatory. Better not make any mistakes because you will get in trouble with absolutely no mentorship or discussion on what went wrong. Managing people is about empathy and working with them, not treating your employees as the enemy - There is a reason why majority of the people on this team are under, or just at, a year in the role, and why majority of the people are looking to exit to either an internal role, or leave the company overall. Senior Leadership does not seem to understand why - You will be held to a metric that the client controls. Who knows how! You will simultaneously be told that you must follow the project outline exactly but then cater it for each client, but they cannot launch later then the set date, but they can launch later than the date at their discretion. Extremely unclear. When this is brought up (in team meetings) you will be told you need to learn how to manage a project better, and to change your language. Again, literally no leadership or mentorship to be found here! - Only work is allowed! There are no team events and no team cohesiveness, you might as well be working in a bubble. Anything non-work related is frowned upon or outright said no too - As part of everything said above, management expects more then 40 hours a week. They have said, in multiple team meetings, that you aren't 'busy' unless you have 35-40 hours of meetings scheduled a week. Nevermind needing to do emails, troubleshooting, or anything else. No Breaks either! Must be a full 40 hours! A Manager like this who ignores literally all studies of how people work (productive time per day averages between 5-6 hours) and has literally no idea how to manage people should not be in this position, or be given more people to manage. - Better not take vacation or you will need to scramble when you get back to resolve any issues, as well as you will be made to feel guilty for any client issues that you missed while away - Zero empathy for employees, they are just a number and all that matters is what you can do. One employee was kept at a full workload with no consideration or assistance while being treated for a serious disease. Absolutely no understanding, and they had more work piled on instead of literally any accommodations made. Absolutely disgusting. If any bad life event comes up you will get absolutely no sympathy beyond some empty words.

Pros

- Personally my manager is very flexible, can't say the same thing about the company. In fact they themselves have openly expressed to the team dismay to all these policy changes. - Vacation time is fair although the new policy arisen amidst covid is quite heavy handed

Cons

The cons are becoming endless. - Heavy handed vacation policy allows no carryover that will not be paid out?? Isn't that illegal? Quoted from vacation policy "Vacation leave is expected to be taken within the calendar year in which it is earned. As such, vacation leave entitlement cannot be carried over from one calendar year to the next. Accrued but untaken vacation will be forfeited at the end of the calendar year and is not eligible to be paid out." - Their handling of the Covid 19 crisis was dishonest, opportunistic and downright despicable. I've never seen so many negative policy changes to employee benefits, pay and hours of work in such a short time in my entire life. How an employer handles a crisis in the treatment of their employees should tell you how it is to work for them and should speak to their integrity - The new HR function is laughable (Although I don't blame them because they are likely being directed by the scumminess of the C-Suite) - They have borderline breached many employees contracts by moving to a 40 hr work week, when they signed on for a 35 hr work week at x salary... fortunately for them, the contracts were sneakily worded so they could easily make a change such as this. Again, completely despicable in a time of crisis. - RRSP matching was removed during Covid crisis... personally I'd rather they just pay out the extra amount in salary since the Sunlife plan is absolutely terrible and really provides no gains whatsoever compared to the open market. - Benefits are terrible - The company has become far too politicized (like everything else). Maybe there is a reason why no one has volunteered for the "inclusion committee" because they know from company actions from past and recently that they are completely disingenuous and any "inclusion committee" will amount to no good. Actions, not meaningless words speak for the integrity of the company.

Pros

- One of few tech cos. in town in Calgary - Some thoughtful, kind and collaborative colleagues

Cons

Toxic work culture (in our office) due to: - Preferential treatment - Those that question the status quo are diminished. Those that enforce a toxic culture are protected and thrive; Highly political environment for such a small org - Incompetent, insecure and frequently absent manager who actively promotes infighting across teams - Rotating door policy - people who leave or are let go are treated as traitors while the hard questions as to to why a particular leader(s) is/are causing so many qualified people to leave in such a short time frame are left unexplored - Thin HR function - This company sells training software, but little emphasis is placed here. Career development opportunities are highly variable across the org and are dependent on your manager
