Pros

Flexibility in this role, I also enjoy being involved in the serval locations that I am over. My two main locations are within 25 minute drive from each other. I’m given almost free rein with very little oversight and essentially zero micro management. I spend some days on the production floor l, some at customer sites, some at the mine, the office, and if needed I can sometimes work from the house. It may take some time to earn trust to get to this point but as long as you perform at or above standard you will get this flexibility.

Cons

Pay is not competitive, also there are several members of management that are disconnected from the day to day operations, managers that definitely should be involved and in the know. I typically work after hours 2-3 times a week at home and am always on call for quality issues. I’ve canceled PTO 50% of the time and have to work on the laptop everytime I go on vacation
