Pros

Support functions are under resourced so if you want to get rounded experience of the end to end process, you'll get to cover it all single-handedly

Cons

underpaid, over worked, supported by non-progressive leadership and HR who dont care about people or culture

Pros

Overall company is Okay, not so bad company, a bit outdated though in terms of IT and processes but that could be bearable. If not in support, work life balance is fine but sometimes due to bad planning you may suffer a bit but it could happen anywhere.

Cons

I was part of the EDW team and EDW leadership was the real pain. Far from professionalism, proper communication and motivation. The lack of documentation and knowledge sharing will really annoy you and it feels even worse if you will find that information is shared based on your relationship with the boss (highly unethical). They heavily rely on Slack but promptness of replies is highly selective. There is lot of dependency on them and thus you can't work autonomously and hence chokes your productivity and creativity. Moreover, they will throw you in support and that too without prior coaching or documentation etc. and you also expect you to work on weekends. This is the worst place I have ever worked in Singapore. I really think the EDW department is in hands of very incompetent, unprofessional and unethical leadership. So my suggestion for you would be never ever join this team in Singapore. You will end up writing writing Select queries here and there, working on end less boring projects, BAU e.g. restarting job, deleting bad data, updating tables manually and supporting a data warehouse which is very poorly designed. This place is not for a "techie/developer" guys, just for "support / BAU" guys!

Pros

cushy job in general good benefits, the share purchase program is especially generous

Cons

slow-moving organisation actuarial team is too process-driven lack of respect of personal boundaries flexible working arrangement is not flexible in practice some of the bosses put on a pretense of caring about your development, when in actuality they just want to dominate and show you who is in charge. Some bosses like to micromanage--I have met at least 3 managers who are like that. Very little room for growth. I have emphasised in my Connect sessions to my superiors for 2 years that I'd want to do something new/different from my then scope of work, but hardly anything changed.
