Pros

Alnylam's RNAi technology is truly awesome; I fully believe it will help MANY patients who are currently suffering tremendously

Cons

Alnylam technically has 5 core values, but the only one that matters is Sense of Urgency. People work 24/7, including weekends and during their vacation, and Senior Leadership model this behavior. The environment is so tense and cutthroat that people throw each other under the bus, instead of assuming good intentions.

Pros

Products are cutting edge technology with tons of potential. People who do the work are hard working, knowledgeable, and true team players. Pleasure to work with these folks. Good feedback loop so people can grow but this is diminishing....Excellent benefits. CEO is a true visionary.

Cons

Way too many politicians at leadership level. Some leaders are great but they are too few and being driven out by some newer management. No longer safe to speak up in meetings without some repercussions to promotions. There is a fine line between providing critique to develop and grow personnel and making people feel like they can no longer speak up.

Toxic culture, terrible experience

Pros

The economical benefits like the stocks, wellness reimbursements and some others payments. Salaries and holidays are nothing out of the ordinary.

Cons

Alnylam is a huge facade that hides a crude reality full of hypocrisy, thick politics, lack of empowerment, jealousy and a strong hierarchical culture. One of the.main issues of this company is hiring people in huge numbers for the sake of hiring without any sort of capacity plan and giving unacomplished and arrogant managers the chance to have direct reports to inflate even more their ignorant heads. The lack of fulfillment, the numerous people sitting absolutely bored with the mundame task they are assigned to and the constant battle between people to grasp and protect the little amount of work they are assigned to while trying to exaggerate the most ridiculous accomplishments in the interest of shining is like the every day business at Alnylam. This organization is extremely silo with several individuals doing small portions of tasks ending up in new employees joining and realising very quickly that they are completely bored in few months. The company does not practice what they preach with their open culture value existing only on paper as people are too afraid to really tell the true of what they think and risking to go to the wrong side of their manager and jeopardising any promotion possibility for the rest of their future there. Upper senior management seems to be completely oblivious to the kind of organisation they created. They might have good intentions to gauge what is really happening at lower levels but still falling victims of their own facade. Only the people who are good at playing the hypocrite political game., who are unexperienced and therefore content with the silly, limited and mundane assignments they get, who enjoy the shoe licking culture and who thrive in strong hierarchical culture where every single topic is scalated 2 or 3 levels up as everyone except VP levels are the ones to make all decision in the company , will be able to thrive in this passive toxic culture. Join this company if you want to do nothing at work and receive a pay check at the end of the month. Risky move if you aspire to become more employable by gaining experience.
