Pros

Good R&D team, great benefits including unlimited PTO, catering 3 times a week and ample selection of snacks, high comp packages (aka hazard pay)

Cons

Where does one start? How do you describe the indescribable? As much as I would like to indulge in the reprehensible moments I enjoyed during my tenure, I would rather provide a brief synopsis so that confused souls can apply common sense and not make the same mistake of intolerable suffering. Culture in every single organization is first established at the top and then trickled down across all layers. The CEO, who has been with the company for about a decade, has managed to handpick a cohort of rampantly rapacious simpletons who have wholeheartedly supported and facilitated every one of his gravity defying pathological lies costing credulous investors millions of dollars. There is no other department that is more impacted by the executive team’s sabotaging illicit behavior than Finance/Accounting. All other functions across the organization are completely oblivious to the atrocities that have made Amyris the laughing stock amongst prudent investors and bright former employees who spotted the Titanic. And there is no one more complicit than the former CFO (now CBO). We all have had our share of working with unfit and not the most highly intelligent individuals at some point in our careers but nothing can come close to this experience. Her incompetence and inanity are unparalleled. Her presence in every meeting commands sheer ignorance and arrogance punctuated by spastic outbursts. To say that basic financial/accounting acumen is hieroglyph to her would be an understatement. Her decisions have completely eviscerated the company’s already dire financial position and funding payroll has become a constant gamble. The insurmountable debt is increasing with incessant refinancing battles resulting in decimated IP leverage and increasingly unfavorable terms. Nobody seems to be able to answer the most basic question- how is someone like that capable of holding an office job, let alone being an officer of a publicly traded company? Think about complaining to HR? That would be tantamount to posting your complaint on the company’s website for everyone to read. Amyris is a company where professionalism, integrity and accountability are only exceeded by profitability, lol. A place where increasing costs is a KPI and basic math and accounting principles are not applicable to decisions or projections. Instead, science fiction and untenable roadmaps are. Their only strategy, which seems to be the catalyst for eking their way out of Chapter 11 so far, is to continue hemorrhaging funds from inadequate investors and spreading incessant redemption lies to manipulate their cringe worthy stock price.
