Pros
- THE PEOPLE!!! It’s quite a varied group of types of people, but everyone at the company genuinely cares about one another’s success and is willing to answer any questions/collaborate. As many have said, even people in the most senior positions at the company are involved and care about you as a person, not just an employee. - Willing to move you to different positions at the company if there is something else that piques your interest. - Very cool technology being used in fascinating ways. - Driven by customer feedback/needs. - Most customers are really really great to work with and want to collaborate with the Anark team to help improve the product, rather than just being constantly disgruntled if things are taking a bit longer or a feature isn’t yet available. - Internships with local schools to help students get job experience and learn more about software development flows, as well as different engineering disciplines. - Weekly ping pong tournaments (when we aren’t working from home because of the pandemic). - Willing to take (reasonable) requests on kitchen stocking, and relatively frequent special snacks show up in the kitchen (again, when we’re at the office). - Honestly, best people I’ve ever worked with.
Cons
- Going through a growth phase right now, so you just have to hang on, keep your head down, and grind out the extra work while hiring is still in progress. - Documentation is still in progress, but is steadily improving (and, pro: seeking out things that are still “tribal knowledge” gives you the opportunity to interact and collaborate with other teams). - Especially with growth being in progress, onboarding could be a bit more structured to better set new employees up for success.
