Pros

Close to the 101 freeway but that's not saying much. If your boss likes you, there is some work from home flexibility.

Cons

If you're interviewing here, they will lie to you about everything to get you excited. They will they tell you things like "we've never lost a deal to a competitor" only for you to double check Salesforce and see the complete opposite. Your jaws will drop in disgust, I guarantee it. The day to day here will drive you mad. For a company with more sales reps than general workers, the office easily rivals an empty library. No one makes calls from their desk because everyone is junior and afraid to screw up, and the roll of the eyes you get from a non-sales colleague from time to time for being "inconsiderate" for taking a customer call at the desk will seal it. With that said, the entire management team has now elected to "shadow" each and every single call and meeting that takes place. Imagine how awkward it is to have 5-7 people from your team attend everyone of your calls and meetings and send you slack messages (during the call and meetings) micromanaging you with what to say. Aside from that, the culture here is sad. It seems like everyone hates their job here. Lots of negativity. Every water cooler break or "going for a walk to get fresh air" seems to be a session with someone needing to vent about how frustrated they are with something or someone. You're either a yes-man, or you've found a new job. Over the course of just 6 months, they've gone through 3 VP of Sales, 2 Marketing Executives, all of the co-founders except the CEO have quit (most likely because of the CEO), and at least a couple of dozen sales people have come and gone for various reasons and hold a hatred for this place. Do your research and you'll see that I might actually be underestimating the amount of turnover this place actually has. The leadership team here is egotistical and inexperienced. They take the meaning of 'blind leading the blind' to a whole new level. The CEO is also extremely awkward and irrational with everything, and I mean everything. Be warned. Friends don't let friends Apptimize.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience or were not set up for success. Apptimize is definitely a learning and growing startup and went through some major changes toward the end of last year. However, after some restructuring and a newly established People Operations team focusing on a robust employee experience as we scale, we are hopeful and excited that we'll be building something great!

Pros

+ Troops on the ground. Apptimize deserves 1 star but the people make it 2. The people actually doing the work that leadership take ALL credit for are fantastic. They work incredibly hard and are a pleasure to be around. Made it worth coming to work. I have made lifelong friends. Probably the only upshot of this place. + Food. Lunch has always been provided and always good. + Office location. Great location to commute from South Bay. + Life lessons. I've learned what to avoid when looking at companies. And that does it for the pros.....

Cons

Does this box have a text limit? I start with the big ones... - Leadership. Absolute dumpster fire. I don't know why but it all seemed great when I started, maybe I drank the coolade too soon. Optimism was high, energy levels were great, some kind of leadership plan was communicated. It appears that the CEO doesn't really care about the company or employees and just wants to basically put processes in place that allow her not to work. I'm not saying she's lazy, she just not build to run companies. Other senior leaders take credit for the work of others and run from ownership of issues. Culture and performance loss is attributed to other which is an absolute lie. Everyone who has left/been fired MADE the culture. The only culture left appears to be that of fear and resentment. - Career Opportunity. Work hard, get rewarded. Yea right. Work hard, have someone else not think that is good enough, throw lofty, floaty words and targets without realizing the absurdness of it all. Synergize on that and we will circle back off line. They actually talk like that. - Downright lies. People being fired as they are not a cultural fit. Nonsense. Zero transparency. I feel awful as I once wrote a glowing review. The review I earlier wrote was true but dang, things can change in a hot minute. I apologize to anyone who started in the last 3-6 months as I feel I duped you by not being honest. My advice now? GTFO. Future employees - you are free to make your own choices. Just take into account that the 1 star reviews are real and the 5 stars are more than likely fakes. Current employees - get out. Its eye opening how much fun and inspiring working for a REAL company, with REAL leadership, with REAL vision is actually like.

Pros

Free snacks and meals. Flexible work schedule. People are generally very smart and helpful. Product is cool, and there is still a lot of potential in the upcoming product plan.

Cons

Leadership is practically non-existent, or actively harming the company. Many people have left because they are not given the opportunity to grow (and most people only join a start-up to grow much faster than at a larger company!). Instead of using the existent skills and knowledge among employees, short-term interns are being used to fill major holes and gaps. Otherwise, those who are picking up the slack from employees who have left are being worked to death. Culture has tanked and is now full of politics, fear and uncertainty. Very clear that the CEO has favorites, even if they are not respected by others in the company.
