Pros

The Company has earned a name and recognition in Agtech world and has a promising product. Company has customers all around the word and it is here to stay. Investors have faith in the company as it just raised series C funding so it is well funded at the moment and the new product it is working on is promising. Company provides flexibility and lets you work from home and if you are working on the product, there is a lot of new things to learn as the new generation of the product has some very cool features.

Cons

The compensation package is not great. It is less than what you can get else where but if you want to learn new things, this could be a good place to be in. The company (the Technology group) has a serious culture problem and that arises from how it is run.. Over last three years or so, the work environment has gotten toxic. What once used to be a healthy place for discussions and ideas has turned into a dull place where only one person has the say and that is the top boss in the technology group (CTO). Raising questions or coming up with alternate ideas are not welcome and can actually hurt your career here. So, if you are content with just agreeing and doing what is told, it could be a place for you but may not be for everybody. Startups are all about ideas and innovation. There are other issues as well that are affecting the culture and the team morale but the cause of all those issues is same as mentioned above and hence should be easy to fix. If that is fixed, I think things could fall in place. May be that will happen some day. If you can just ignore all that noise, be tactful, agree with everything, you can do well. As said in the pros section above, there is a lot to learn in this company so being a yes man may be good, if you are that kind of person.

Behind the Scenes at Arable: Uncovering the Truth

Pros

In the beginning it can be exciting, but it all falls apart when you start seeing through the company and uncovering the backstage fiasco it is

Cons

Upon commencing employment at Arable, typical job responsibilities are initially observed. However, over time, due to perceived deficiencies in management and leadership, there appears to be a blurring of departmental boundaries. Employees may find themselves under the supervision of executives unrelated to their areas of expertise, leading to heightened micromanagement and associated stressors stemming from continuous reporting requirements. Furthermore, reports of leadership engaging in discussions that undermine employee confidence and trust in their work have surfaced among colleagues. During my tenure at Arable, I encountered instances where my performance was questioned by superiors, despite my confidence in my capabilities. These experiences, while challenging, did not deter my commitment to fulfilling my duties for the company's benefit. Additionally, there were occasions where tasks spanned across various functions such as sales, finance, accounting and inventory management, including the implementation of costly software solutions with questionable efficacy. Despite concerns raised, the leadership's apparent reluctance to acknowledge inefficiencies or provide tangible returns on investment is notable. The lack of transparent financial performance metrics raises questions about the company's fiscal prudence and strategic decision-making. Attempts to address these concerns are met with resistance, suggesting a reluctance to entertain dissenting viewpoints. Notably, Arable's prolonged reliance on its startup status, despite its tenure in the market, appears increasingly incongruous and potentially serves as a veneer to conceal internal challenges. In conclusion, the operational intricacies at Arable demand urgent attention and overhaul. While the company may boast commendable aspects within its business model, the prevailing deficiencies in leadership, decision-making, and transparency are glaring and unacceptable. It is imperative for Arable to acknowledge and rectify these issues promptly to salvage its reputation and foster an environment conducive to sustainable growth. Failure to address these concerns risks irreparable damage to employee morale and the company's long-term viability.

Poor leadership

Pros

It is a job that pays the bills

Cons

Leadership at the executive level does not communicate with each other or with employees. They are very out of touch and have grandiose expectations of deliverables with absolutely no intention of setting employees up for success. Everything here is smoke and mirrors, beginning with the company website. There is a collage of employees on the site and none of those employees are still there. The website gets updated often when a member of leadership leaves so someone is definitely managing the page, they're just choosing to leave the employee collage up to mislead you. A typical week here in any department includes several executives bothering you for status updates and providing their unwanted and irrelevant ideas for how to do it faster. Each executive will want something different from the other guy even on the same task. It doesn't matter if you believe you are a low level employee and they won't come to you, they absolutely will bother anyone at any level. When you finally finish the task under much duress, you learn that it was only manifested urgency and the task was not needed, or was duplicated by someone else, or the direction has changed. Meanwhile, customers are frustrated and confused and you will have to placate them with no guidance from above. This repeats over time and if you bring it up, they will give empty platitudes about how "we are a start up and things are quickly evolving." Keep in mind that this company has been around for 7-8 years and this excuse gets old. You will eventually get laid off or fired. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but eventually. Loyalty is not at all appreciated here. Get the highest salary possible, and then leave when you get a better offer.
