Pros

I've been working for 5+ years and I've worked for big firms, startups, had my own, but Arch has been by far, the most rewarding experience - Truly great ,supportive, ridiculously smart team - Great culture! Inclusive, slightly geeky, and genuinely nice - Get to do a bit of everything and have impact - Learning so much everyday - about business development skills, but also generally about hardware, analytics, DevOps, etc - The people are genuinely the best thing about Arch - The social impact mission and focus of the company. Super rare to find a company in B2B enterprise, in manufacturing with such a strong mission and social impact backbone - Being part of a growing company and being able to see that with your own eyes. We just moved offices to a place double the size and are growing our team. It's exciting to see!

Cons

When I joined, Arch was in the middle of closing a large deal that brought up a lot of changes in strategy that were much needed but was also a bit distracting from the day to day in my role. It didn't last very long though, the dust has settled and I genuinely can't think of any cons!

A great place to fail

Pros

So many startups say that they want you to fail and learn from it and try again but don’t mean it. Arch Systems actually allows you to fail, and you don’t even need to learn anything, you can just keep being bad at your job! You do have to be a wheat man to take advantage of this, but it seems like you can coast for a while if you want. Good benefits so you stick around, but it’s draining to have to interact with people who don’t care about doing their jobs or not being nice to their coworkers. There are some people who are great to work with, but they’re so busy doing everyone else’s work that you don’t get to interact with them as much.

Cons

The CEO is a sales guy first and always and will tell you what he thinks sounds best but not do anything. He won’t let people just do their job, always thinking he knows better because one time someone at a FAANG did something like this, so now he has to. He does not respond to feedback professionally, instead deciding to be punitive if he doesn't like what you have to say. The sales team is basically a racist fueled frat house who never know what they’re talking about and talk down to the women if they bother to talk to them at all. This is pervasive throughout the team. The sales team is also allowed to bail on major events, meetings they set, etc. after long nights of drinking. The new HR group is not approachable and doesn’t seem to do anything but ask us to write reviews and write them themselves. If HR team reviews call out diversity needing to be a priority, that seems like a red flag to me. There was a diversity person who seemed cool, but she disappeared which sucks. Leadership got called out on there being no diversity at Arch Systems so they checked a few boxes and went back to ignoring it. In general priorities move around all the time and it’s not really explained. Seems like the CEO can’t figure out what to do or who to listen to.

Flexible work with a great team

Pros

I appreciate the flexible work schedule and the level of trust and autonomy I have here at Arch. There is a dynamic working environment and there are lots of new things to learn. I wear many hats which makes work more interesting.

Cons

It's a start-up, so sometimes work can feel chaotic. It keeps things exciting though.
