Flexible and fun

Pros

You will get to work venues and shows that the public pay top dollar to attend. You will meet other event staff from a wide variety of backgrounds. The scheduling is flexible. The job is fun 98 percent of the time and occasionally tedious a small amount of time.

Cons

It can take some time to get the hang of scheduling (don't be put off). You will soon get the feel for what venues and schedules best fit your lifestyle, personality, and working needs. In the beginning you may feel like cattle. We have all been there. Ask questions. Your coworkers can be a great resource.

Pros

One of the biggest advantages is the flexibility to build your own schedule. It allows you to balance other jobs, school, or family life while still contributing meaningfully to events. The work environment is exciting and ever-changing, with opportunities to staff concerts, festivals, sporting events, and special shows that keep every day interesting. Leadership is approachable and supportive, genuinely invested in helping employees grow and succeed. The team culture is one of the strongest parts of working here. People are willing to step in wherever they are needed, and there is a real sense of camaraderie. The company’s core values of doing the right thing, being in the moment, working as one team, having fun, and delivering wow service are not just words on a wall. They are practiced and reinforced every day, and it shows in how the staff treats each other and the guests. Over the years, I have seen employees advance and take on new responsibilities based on their attitude, reliability, and performance, and there are plenty of opportunities to learn and grow while having fun on the job.

Cons

Event work can be physically demanding, and some shifts require long periods of standing or walking. Many assignments are outdoors, so you need to be ready for whatever the weather brings, from heat and wind to rain or snow. Even though you get to build your own schedule, there are times when the company needs people to pick up shifts or roles that might not be your first choice, and that can be challenging. Working with large crowds can be intense, and occasionally you’ll encounter frustrated or upset guests, which takes patience and a calm approach. Events are often fast-paced and unpredictable, with last-minute changes or unexpected situations, so adaptability is a must. The workload can fluctuate seasonally, and while this can mean some months are slower, the busier periods can be very full-on. Over the years, I’ve learned that staying reliable and showing up consistently is key, not just for your own growth but also for keeping the team strong and supporting the events. Despite these challenges, I’ve found the work incredibly rewarding because of the energy, teamwork, and the sense of accomplishment that comes from helping events run smoothly.
