Pros

Trainee flying is still rewarding

Cons

The senior management are the 'B team' of ex-military pilots, proving that whilst you may have been a commisioned officer in one of the services, it certainly does not make you any sort decent leader.

Pros

Some outstanding Instructors with an immense wealth of experience, who go above and beyond to ensure the highest quality of training for military aircrew. Military students are highly motivated. Work / Life balance is good. Salary is reasonable given the work routine.

Cons

Senior Leadership (particularly at Shawbury) is exceptionally poor. A highly toxic environment is maintained by a number of narcissistic characters, holding key positions. Progression within the company is only likely if you are friendly with managers. The working relationship with the military continues to become ever more difficult due to training shortcuts to aid cost cutting and fund repurposing. A frustrating company who 'could' be leading the way in aircrew training but are hindered by poor leadership, unable to recognise that its people are its greatest asset.
