Company with great growth story but now limited by incompetent leadership
Pros
• Generally there is upward mobility and the company is open to moving employees between departments. • Employees are very cooperative and team oriented • Company has high market share in its product categories • Benefits & PTO are above average • Work/life balance varies by manager but generally seems to be good for most employees
Cons
• It's nearly impossible to move past the Manager level here. In 10+ years I only saw 3 people promoted past Manager. • High turnover - employees are rapidly abandoning current leadership • Company has old-fashioned views on Work-from-home. Leadership actively discourages it and assumes it's the same as PTO. Company has made little effort to make WFH possible (such as high quality video cameras and microphones in conference rooms) • In the past 2 years the company has skipped performance reviews, meaning no merit increases • Compensation/base salary is below average with a a wide range. Some people are grossly underpaid whereas others are similarly overpaid. • Current leadership lacks any transparency. 4-5 people make all the important decisions in the company with little to no input from others. • Career potential at ASO seems to be decided by proximity to owners. Don't expect to rise in the ranks unless you are somehow connected to the owners or their favorite employees. • Company lacks a lot of "global" policies meaning many policies will be determined ad-hoc by your manager, which can be good or bad. Examples being work-from-home and hours worked.
