Pros
The health insurance WAS good, they made a change to save money that severely impacted employees negatively, they wish to change it again so it will be better in the next year. Unlimited dental cleanings were great. Small education reimbursement, though the process itself is horrendous.
Cons
You will be overworked AND underpaid. The most upsetting thing is that they do not VALUE their employees--they would rather pay someone more to come in from the outside versus treat their internal employees fairly. Nothing you will do will ever be good enough, they are quick to point out any small wrong-doing rather than ever pat you on the back. Forget about consistency, there is no such thing, and anywhere you go there will be a different set of rules. MMC doesn't care about anyone that isn't a nurse or a doctor, despite having such a large employment base of employees outside of these titles. Understandably a medical facility, the bulk of employees are medically licensed, but there is a 50% that aren't, and they aren't cared for at all. No special awards for administrative staff, no scholarships, no award ceremonies. Your ideas aren't important for overall hospital operations if you aren't medical in nature. Which, is weird, considering the CEO is not a medical professional (though higher up positions that can really be benefited by having someone more concentrated in business would be beneficial.) Also, forget about reporting things in regards to compliance, nothing will be done. If you are an employee and have a concern with management, there is no such thing as a safe place. HR will go to the manager rather than help you with your concern, which is a scary thing. Upper management is not involved in the day-to-day, it's all an act, and everyone is afraid to speak up about the complete and utter lack of leadership going on in this place. You can try to shine, but you will be pulled down because they do not want to see people other than their already selected few to move up into the company. They preach having PRIDE and a sense of culture, but there is no such thing as having PRIDE to work at this place anymore. There is ZERO work/life balance, you leave this place and think about bracing yourself for the awful next shift. Nurses have 12-hour shifts (not uncommon), but the working ratios are disgustingly negligent and everyone is burnt out. But no one listens if you voice concern, you are instead met with hostility. Incompetent HR department is by far one of the worst experiences that many people have had. Unfair/biased treatment across the board, the same opportunities are not available to everyone, Extremely cheap when it comes to employee recognition, they will do whatever it takes to cut corners. And not even just financially, Management is too cheap on their own time to give verbal congratulations and recognition. They want employees to believe that revenue is down and that they are suffering, yet they continue to make poor investments rather than fix what they already have. If it isn't the Gagnon part of the hospital, they don't care what's going on. There are STILL shared rooms, and it affects all of the floors because patients will comment on how other hospitals in NJ have all-private rooms. When things go wrong, employees just look at each other and shrug, because it's expected at this point. There's so much more to life than working at a place that does not respect their employees at all. I want to be honest, I was so excited to work at Morristown Medical Center because I had such high hopes that I would be a part of something great for this community. I was so wrong. I feel wronged.
