Pros

The culture among the lower level employees is pretty tight knit and there are opportunities to travel and work with some great people.

Cons

Honestly, where do I start? Leadership seems to be a bit toxic and they lack an aligned plan for the future. There has been multiple instances of people being bullied out of their positions followed with a huge boys club mentality. Nepotism also seems to be a pretty big problem here. And lastly, everyone is severely underpaid. There are better places to work.

Pros

The work they do is as incredible as the people they support. It was cool to work somewhere that seemed to have constant wins for liberty.

Cons

The internal atmosphere is a mess. Lots of gossip, people that will step on whoever they can to get ahead, and nepotism. They also contribute to the underpayment of DC-area fresh grads looking to make a change.

Pros

The team really wants to do good in the world and they want to work hard at it. There's an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to innovate and improve every year and the next great idea can come from anyone on the team and often does. And, of course, you get to see the world in a very meaningful and purposeful way. The education and personal development is very rich and fulfilling.

Cons

The organization has matured past start up mode but it's growth strategy is pretty demanding on everyone even if the culture is pleasant and appreciates the importance of work/life balance. Management provides a lot of independence but this also means you need to develop your own self care habits and be proactive about it so you don't burn out.
