Pros

Employees are highly committed and fairly well engaged. The domain is fun (social media). The technology is fascinating (natural language processing). There are now a new CEO and CTO who seem to have good ideas on how to move the company forward and fix identity issues that have been plaguing the company for the last few years.

Cons

Inability to maintain agile sprints because of poor bug triage and release management. I've been on so-called "waterfall" teams that released code more often than these teams. Unrealistic expectations were put on people to get things done, and this caused the team to fragment and not function like a true team. In reality, we were all fending for ourselves.

Could be better, could be worse

Pros

Work/life balance is good. Free weekly lunches.

Cons

CEO changed three times in a single year. Newest CEO cleaned house, letting go large portions of Sales and executives, replacing with his own people who have no business in those roles. Lots of churn throughout the company, leaving the mediocre behind. Some better people hired on recently, but senior management is still failing. Slow to adopt industry-standard technology. Still lots of buggy in-house software developed by a select few awful engineers. Lots of public, and secret, tension between company locations and groups. Some teams need to pick up the slack for others. Lengthy downtimes contributing to constant customer dissatisfaction. Broken promises on bonus and options.
