Pros

Absolutely none anymore, you're even expected to have your company owned vehicle serviced in your own time.

Cons

Constant pressure and expectations of staying late to take extra work, even though overtime is no longer paid, a bonus scheme that no longer rewards hard work; same amount of work for half the money. Have ended up working for less than minimum wage some weeks. Expected to produce a perfect job with the worst products, with any comebacks being pinned on the technician regardless of whether or not it's their fault. If a certain percentage of jobs come back they'll take money out of anything extra you've managed to earn. Constant working of weekends and bank holidays with no extra pay even though the insurer/customer is charged an additional rate. 50+ hour weeks with one day off before being expected to be back in to do it again. Never being listened to when reporting a problem with a job or products, it's either swept under the rug and covered up or you're told that you're the problem More than happy to let technicians struggle on their own with larger and larger pieces of glass risking injury and damage to customer vehicles instead of sending an assist to the job. Work from 7.30 to 5 or 6 every day without a break due to constantly being passed more work Any favours that are done are quickly forgotten Made to feel absolutely and completely expendable. You are literally just a number on a spreadsheet to this company, they have become more interested in looking after their shareholders and making even more money than they have in looking after the people on the bottom of the ladder who spend every day out on the road actually fitting windows in all weathers. Now this company has dragged themselves back from being on watchdog thanks to the hard work of the technicians they dont care what happens to them now. I am a level 1 qualified technician who knows my job well and yet I am made to feel like a 10 year old.

Pros

Given some of the best equipment in the industry. Customers can be brilliant (or not).

Cons

You are just number, no matter how good or experienced you are, you are just another expenditure to them. Rules for technicians are set by people who haven't done the job in many years if at all. Contracted to "offer additional services" (sell wipers), reality is you are targeted to sell, and your job is always at risk if you can't make customers buy overpriced wipers. All that matters is numbers. Can't do a job because the weather is horrendous and you would get in trouble for breach of safety regulations or for not following their fitting rules? It is still held against you. Everything is the technicians fault, no matter what it is. No scope for progression. Couple of technician skill levels where the targets to move up are constantly pushed further away but that's it. - even though you will be expected to do jobs at the higher paid skill level whether you are paid that level or not.

Pros

New tools, decent vans.

Cons

Thrown in at deep end without relevant training for certain screens. Wrong glass constantly leaving customers annoyed.
