Pros

The pay is very good and the benefits are as well. There are a couple small gyms on the two sites and you get a free bus pass for you and your spouse.

Cons

Everything is in complete disarray. Innovation is stagnant and creativity is not encouraged in the least. You'll receive some impressive material if you're a new hire and then it's sink or swim time! Odds are you''ll be sinker because there is an abysmal amount of infrastructure and guidance provided. From my experience your co-workers will be just as bad and so self-absorbed that you'll feel isolated in ways that will probably be new to anyone that comes from a healthy working environment. I've never worked in a place as bizarre as this and if I was paid any less I would have walked out after day one.

Could be great, but senior management is lacking in expertise

Pros

Great benefits - Above average health and dental - On-site gym - Training is given where required - Office work stations are better than you will find most other places Pay is good...for Victoria Colleagues have great humour and fun...when not around management

Cons

Senior management - Does not know how to effectively manage employees - At times seems like they make decisions based around what would look good on their resumes when they inevitably get let-go when there is a change in government - Have a poor attitude when people complain or try to bring up raises/promotions. Have the outlook that employees are "lucky to even have a job in Victoria" - When the good employees leave the company out of frustration, management can only tell them they "are making a big mistake and will surely regret it" instead of being happy for them - Constantly changing the goal posts of what is important. Employees get frustrated and feel like they have wasted their work by having to do everything from scratch over and over - Put out anonymous surveys asking what employees thought about the company and what improvements could be made. Employees were told they would be coming out every year. After negative reviews of management, they discontinued the surveys. - Put themselves way before employees when it comes to any sort of perk to the job or monetary raises Some employees are typical governmental workers. Bitter but they don't want to leave because of the pension. Everything is seniority based. Shift schedules, vacation timeslots etc.

Not a place for the ambitious.

Pros

Great benefits (including an on-site gym), co-workers and life balance. Culture is relaxed but still professional. Great location next to Gorge Waterway.

Cons

Senior management is completely disengaged from the operational core. Many passionate and highly-capable employees are not adequately utilized and often leave the organization out of frustration.
