Pros

Great pay for technician and estimator if you are willing to work. Near endless overtime for techs and great commission for estimators that put in the work. The largest restoration company in the world

Cons

Decidedly low pay for project managers considering the work load. 60hrs a week and constant on call make for a poor work environment.

Pros

- Working life improves after leaving this company.

Cons

- The top Management is more focused on saving his own reputation than leading the company. When things go wrong, he’s quick to point fingers rather than owning up to his mistakes. - Major decisions are made without much consideration and input from the countries, creating ripple effects that only add to the chaos and impact everyone else. This disregard leads to disorganization and friction across the board. - The top Management enforces extreme cost-cutting measures on employees while he splurges on expensive flights, hotels, and entertainment during international business trips. - Issues or disputes in other countries are largely ignored by the top Management until they’re too far gone, causing a serious talent drain as valuable employees either resign or are forced out in frustration. - The lack of emphasis on integrity and mutual respect has turned the work environment political and toxic, where shouting matches and blatant disrespect have become the norm. - The top Management plays favorites, rewarding gossipers and yes-men while pushing others to either fall in line or get out. This creates division and tension in the company. - Just like the top Management, the IT and Finance departments are notorious for bullying the countries, forcing them to follow rigid procedures blindly, ignore feedback, and disrespect staff, resulting in a high turnover and unhappy employees. - Instead of setting an example, the top Management does the bare minimum while demanding other countries pick up the slack and go above and beyond. This discrepancy creates further frustration and resentment. - Need More Reasons? You've Been Warned. The red flags are clear. If you’re considering joining this company, think long and hard—sometimes, staying away is the best choice.

Worst Company Ever!

Pros

Not worth mentioning to anyone.

Cons

Management: The obsession with controlling every detail is evident within the leadership. There is a strong desire to know everything about everyone, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere reminiscent of surveillance. Additionally, there seems to be a negative dynamic between certain individuals within the organization. They engage in backstabbing and gossip, contributing to a toxic work environment. The focus on cost-cutting is excessive, with a meticulous examination of every expense. This includes counting every penny to afford luxurious travel arrangements, leaving some questioning the allocation of resources. Despite advocating for embracing new approaches, there appears to be resistance to adopting modern practices. Valuable time and money are spent on unnecessary overseas meetings that could be efficiently conducted online. Simple communication via email could replace prolonged and unproductive meetings. Unfortunately, this delay in decision-making often leads to missed opportunities and other pressing matters left unaddressed. Colleagues: Although I am no longer part of the team, I am aware of the on goings there. It is disheartening to learn about the apparent incompetence displayed by certain individuals within the organization. Their focus seems to be directed more towards intruding on others' affairs rather than fulfilling their own responsibilities. Basic administrative tasks are neglected, and time is wasted on monitoring CCTV footage instead. The office environment is disrupted by the open and loud sleeping habits of some team members. Such behavior hinders productivity and fosters an unprofessional atmosphere. Additionally, there have been reports of unprofessional conduct among various team members. Engaging in excessive online gaming during work hours, watching TV shows on personal devices, and invasive desk inspections, paired with indulging in gossip, create a disappointing work environment. It is disheartening to hear that even newer colleagues have adopted negative behaviors. Shouting and exerting authority without justification is concerning, as is the lack of helpfulness. The insistence on creating unnecessary bureaucratic processes for simple administrative requests adds to the overall dysfunction within the organization. Work Culture: The work culture within the organization appears to be toxic, particularly within the team operating on level four. There is a prevalence of backstabbing and gossip, with individuals going to great lengths to enhance their own image in front of the leadership. This behavior includes attempts to sabotage others' work and tarnish their reputation, all in pursuit of personal gain such as salary increments. Taking accountability for one's assigned responsibilities seems to be a challenge, with some team members shirking their duties and deflecting blame. Regrettably, there seems to be a lack of emphasis on employee well-being and safety. Instances such as the spread of COVID-19 within the office without appropriate measures being taken raise concerns. Reports of a rat infestation without any prompt action are disconcerting and illustrate a failure to maintain a sanitary work environment. The overall impression is that the company falls short in providing competitive salaries and favorable working conditions. It appears to operate more like a small-scale enterprise rather than a reputable global organization. If you seek better remuneration and a more conducive work environment, it may be advisable to explore opportunities elsewhere.

Pros

There is some great staff (not including the management team)

Cons

They underpay and overwork. It is a constant revolving door of staff because they do not provide proper training, proper wages or a safe work environment. They restructured several years ago and since then the company has gone from okay to horrible.

Pros

BELFOR, nothing is impossible—unmatched job security, a strong 401K, financial stability, and a global force with limitless resources to get the job done. Leadership at the Virginia Beach office presents a complex picture. While some in charge demonstrate business acumen and a generally pleasant demeanor, there is a noticeable divide in focus—often leaning toward personal interests and external ventures. This divided attention extends to certain individuals within the office who appear to benefit from special treatment [nepotism], including access to prime opportunities and commissions, often at the expense of other hardworking employees. One particular individual, despite holding a senior title, has a role that remains unclear, [other than getting the gravy assignments]. With no assigned workspace and rare office appearances, their influence seems disconnected from the day-to-day operations. Their behavior, often loud and dismissive [offensive and unprofessional], has even led to the significant loss of clients who prefer not to work with them. These handful of various clients have repeatedly stated so over the years. And yes this information has been passed along up the chain, with the same demoralizing result; acknowledged but also ignored. Leadership practices, such as inconsistent schedules and last-minute [end of the day] demands, contribute to a stressful work environment. It’s not uncommon for urgent tasks to be delayed until the end of the workday, causing unnecessary strain on the team [This is a lack of respect towards the team]. The atmosphere is marked by favoritism and double standards, leaving employees to navigate an often unbalanced and unpredictable work culture. Perhaps most concerning is the lack of a safe, clear path for raising these issues without fear of retribution. HR is widely regarded as untrustworthy, leaving employees with two options: endure the dysfunction or find a better place to work. Sadly, the latter often feels like the only viable choice—and probably your best chance at a raise. In summary, while BELFOR may be a respected name on the global stage, the Virginia Beach office struggles with serious issues in leadership, fairness, and workplace culture.

Cons

While BELFOR enjoys a strong global reputation for financial stability and unmatched resources, the Virginia Beach office presents a very different story—one of disconnect, favoritism, and disengaged leadership. During my long tenure with the company, I have never met the CEO or other C-suite executives, even when they visited town. They never took the time to stop in, reinforcing the feeling that this branch—and its employees—are not a priority. This lack of engagement at the top mirrors the detachment seen in local management, where leadership feels increasingly disconnected from day-to-day operations. Those considering a position here should carefully weigh BELFOR’s strong global reputation against the challenges present at the Virginia Beach branch. If you can look past the realities of how this office operates, there is genuine potential to gain valuable knowledge and skills that could serve you well in future opportunities—whether within the company or elsewhere. You can build a career here, but it’s important to enter with clear eyes, understanding that this is very much an “it is what it is” [perhaps even toxic] environment. If the culture and management style don’t align with your expectations, the choice will ultimately be yours: adapt and accept the status quo, or seek a better fit elsewhere. Unfortunately, the latter might be the more realistic path for those seeking genuine growth, fairness, and job satisfaction.
