Creatives Beware!

Pros

Get to travel to Vancouver for exchange program. Depending on manager, can work from home, and potentially travel to NY.

Cons

I highly do NOT recommend this job if you are a creative looking for good brainstorms, best solutions, and challenge. Designers in this company mostly act as production designers. There is very little-to-none creative brainstorm time, and not often enough resources to thoughtfully problem solve. Most of the brainstorming is done by the account team, as there are almost 2 account team members for every creative. Usually the designers are pulled into projects as an afterthought, and are briefed by the account team who have already come up with the project concept and plan of attack. In general the company is lead by account, and designers are just there "to make things look pretty" (which has been said by one of the highest level managers). Management is poor, usually checked out, or literally not around. If you are a creative I would advise looking elsewhere. If you are an account person then this might be a great job for you as you may get to go to SXSW to party.

Pros

There are a lot of good people who've come (and gone) from BSTRO staff. No lack of strong personalities. Some big name clients.

Cons

Horrible, inconsistent & corrupt management. There are literally screaming matches on a regular basis. Completely unprofessional. Ridiculous turnover rate and they don't care to know why. No onboarding process (so be prepared to feel completely lost for the first 3 months or so...) People are generally unfriendly and unwelcoming at first. Extremely competitive atmosphere. No real perks. It's all about how you sell yourself at BSTRO, very little to do with work ethic or actual skill.

Pros

Friendly and intelligent team of people Good office location

Cons

- Terrible hours - There is absolutely no career path for many roles including Developer in BSTRO - There are lots of pressure on Developers and that is the main reason many of them leave the company/high turn over - Verbally abusive/micro managing manager - The manager is very forgetful, he frequently changes his mind after making a decision, forgets many of the decisions he has made and blames employees for things that are his fault - What kind of company hire at full tilt only to lay off people a few weeks down the road? And just so that they can pretty up the balance sheet?
