Pros

They pay you in money at least.

Cons

There is a weird aura of superiority at this place that is totally unjustified since the product is essentially just cheap bags with tacky designs. The culture is very smug and cliquey despite the fact that these people make... handbags. Pay is below market rate. Do yourself a favor and hit them with the curve.

It's just bags!

Pros

Some genuinely nice people to work with. Everyone is around the same age, which makes it a really fun environment at times. Good discount on the bags and groceries in the kitchen. Nice to work for a company that cares about the environment.

Cons

Everything at BAGGU seemed makeshift and unorganized. Clicky groups everywhere and so much importance put on "the brand". I felt like I was judged rarely on my performance but on what designers I knew and wore. Cmon! It's just bags... Awful pay and small bonuses that were not tied to performance or role advancement. Little to no growth opportunities. Severe lack of maturity from upper management - putting people down for their looks and outfits was a regular occurrence, especially when people came in for interviews. Not cool. People came and went, and responsibilities were just spread around to people across departments rather than investing in essential positions and hiring good people.

Pros

Insurance, transit and 401k benefits for full and part-time employees. Bonuses given to all workers during holiday season. Flexible schedule. Perks.

Cons

Very little privacy and little room for advancement for store employees. Employees are watched from a camera behind the desk, which felt invasive and communicated lack of trust. Throughout my time with the company, I witnessed an increasing disconnect between the store and senior management. This resulted in a general feeling of being left in the dark about the company’s movements. Older employees expressed a concern about the “Urban Outfittersification” of the brand and its vision of growth over ethical concerns. All production is now outsourced.
