Pros

As far as retail goes, it didn't get any better than Barneys. One year of working at Barneys = a 4 year Fashion Merchandising degree from any college. Exposure to the best designer products in an environment that felt more like a big, eccentric, rich person's closet than a department store. Fun, interesting employees, and great employee discount.

Cons

Toxic, arrogant, upper-level "management" that drove the company into the ground. They loved to externalize blame and evade accountability, but they ultimate ruined Barneys. They sterlized the brand, over-expanded into irrelevant markets, failed to understand the aesthetic of the company, and hired numerous other "executives" who were equally incompetent. The last two CEOs were straight from hell.
