Pros

No weekends (unless customer has issue or driver has issues) Met a lot of good coworkers whom I’m still friends with today. Met contacts at major companies and learned more about the business as a whole

Cons

You may be hired in an extended training program: Basically the company asked for money from the state and the state pays half your salary for 3-6 months. You then have to stay in contact with an unemployment office (even if you were not on unemployment prior to) in order to give them updates on your training. However you are not training, they put you on a veterans book for 90 days and are working full time 40 hour weeks. It’s better to know someone there: About 20% of the staff is from a single previous logistics company (most mgmt is) and brought friends and even family over with them. Rules don’t apply to everyone: Although success is measured by money made, there are still KPI’s that you will be judged by. Some have to hit them, others do not. You will be held accountable to these even though they pick and choose who has to hit them. Management has no background in management: Every company needs managers. It’s important to note that the person chosen to manage people should not be decided on by who was good at sales. This is apparent due to the lack of professionalism. Poor judgement while having conversations(things that shouldn’t be said), making decisions and resolving issues. Like telling every company we work with that we will use our trucks when we double broker basically everything. That would be fine but only the good reps are allowed to double broker freight. They make us lean on the idea that we have 600+ trucks when pitching our services to companies, later to tell us we need to find non company trucks to move that freight even though the customer may be expecting our MC number on the side of the trucks coming in. Turnover is extremely high: In 10 months I documented the names of 33 people who were either fired or quit. That’s really high considering there are only about 70+ employees. Basically new employees come in, make a current veterans book make money for a few months, then turned into a lead generator for 6 months only to most likely be let go. Those accounts and leads they secured over that time are then given to the higher earning employees to pad their stats.

Pros

I’d rather not have a Job than work here

Cons

Everything. Don’t work here. The only good reviews are the managers most likely Chuck coming on here and giving 5 stars and saying no cons. If you actually think they’re are no cons to this awful place you don’t have a brain. So it’s obvious the managers come on here to give 5 stars so they’re rating goes up. I won’t let people get conned into working here. They don’t care about you at all and try to convince you they do. Worst company I have ever worked for and that’s saying something. Don’t believe any of the good reviews. The only people who like this company are the higher ups and managers who don’t do anything but fire you and the employees who have been there since day 1. There isn’t one nice thing to say about this awful “business”. Don’t even apply.

Pros

If you work hard enough anybody can make good money in this industry. Coworkers are easy to get along with and are your best source of help. Nobody will turn you down if you ask. 35 years in business gives the company some valuable reputation to leverage. Loose operating procedures can be appealing. Learn by doing.

Cons

The industry is notoriously ruthless. You will never work 40 hours a week. Unprofessional work environment. There is very little transparency from management at any level. If you are new to the industry don't count on training - there isn't any that's pertinent to the actual job. While upper management is very knowledgeable of the industry it's obvious that most have no leadership experience. New processes are clumsily rolled out and blame is redirected when execution fails. They're right that there are worse places you could work in this industry but that isn't a major accomplishment.
