Pros

I have a feeling they'll hire just about anyone. There are some really nice people working there. The starting salary isn't bad for someone working part time while in school, especially when you add in asleep overnight positions. A lot of times there nothing to do, so you can do your homework, even though they say you aren't supposed to.

Cons

They told me I would be doing outreach with higher functioning folks in the community, but they stuck me in this really dark, depressing apartment where the tv was always going, we never went anywhere, and the food was stuff I would never want anyone feeding my loved ones. I never saw fresh fruit and barely any fresh vegetables. One time I came in and offered to make a vegetable side dish to go with the spaghetti and meat balls a senior coworker had made for the residents, and she said "that's ok, I'm gonna give them some garlic bread too". She was a perfectly nice woman, but it speaks to the culture of the place that they don't understand or care about nutrition. Or having their residents get sunlight or fresh air on the weekends. We were always very careful to make sure every penny was accounted for on each shift though. Priorities, priorities...

Pros

None at all besides it being located in an urban community in which they complain about.

Cons

All that you can think of in a bad non profit that doesn't look out for the interest of it's employees or clients they serve.

Pros

-Able to provide direct service to a deeply needing and underserved population -Some clinicians are passionate, mature, and deeply committed to their work -Ability to engage with a great breath of diagnoses

Cons

-An inappropriate level of productivity requirements. Mostly clinicians must have over 50 clients to maintain requirements -Low pay -A lot of turn over and burn out -Company has no regard for emotional health or wellbeing of anyone working there. It is all about the insurance company money and requirements in management. -Some clinicians are immature, insecure, and gossip
