Pros

I don't see any pros to this company. They are lies to clients and their employees

Cons

- They failed to pay staff they were laying off and were taken to court over it - They failed to pay expenses to their staff - No direction from husband & wife management team - They would body shame their employees - No vacation days allowed - They lied to clients and use pre-made software, web design, blog posts and content - They expected a two people team to make 27 episodes of shows in less that 3 months for a network that never made it off the ground. With no budget to do so. - Very low pay and no benefits - Mainly staffed by interns - They change there company name every few years to hide from the bad reviews (Now call Beholder Agency) - They offer no training or mentorship

Unethical lying frauds

Pros

I got to see what a failing company and a dishonest employer looks like. I got to work for several very successful companies after Beholder and saw how talented, smart people operate a business. That was a pro for me, but I have nothing good to say about Beholder Productions.

Cons

Lol. Not sure where to start. We were usually paid much later than we were told and I even had a few paychecks bounce. I was forced to use my own personal computer because beholder was too broke to provide me with equipment. The websites that they claimed to design were actually pre-designed templates that they downloaded from a website. Of course this didn't stop them from charging their clients the same price as a custom website (ya know, like the websites that real professionals create) and passing it off as something that was built from scratch. 90% of my time was spent working on projects that the "CEO" (lol) made up because there wasn't any actual client work coming through the door. The work that did come out of beholder was mediocre at best. They used unpaid student interns to do the bulk of the work because they couldn't afford to pay industry professionals. I had a strong feeling that if a veteran of the design/video industry were to walk in there they would laugh at what they saw. The self proclaimed "CEO" and his wife talked about the interns/employees appearance and their weight in front of other employees during meetings. Often times it was them flat out making fun of an intern behind their back. Real professional and classy. Im sure they would deny this but I can guarantee you that I'm not making this up. In conclusion, this company is a JOKE and I'm still not sure how they're in business. Their response to other reviews on this app is an attempt to make the disgruntled intern/employee feel like they're not suited for the industry. In reality they are just a failing business with a very unethical approach to running a company. This industry does require a lot of hard work and dedication, but you deserve to be compensated appropriately and ON TIME for doing said work. If working at Beholder Productions has left a bad taste in your mouth and made you reluctant to continue working in the field, please, do not be discouraged. A legit company will pay on time, provide you with equipment and be available to address your concerns if needed. Oh, and actually teach you a thing or two. I really hope someone exposes this lying company for the frauds that they are. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with disgust for these manipulative cowards.

Dear Anonymous, There is quite a bit of emotion in this post. It would help to know when you were last employed with Beholder or perhaps let us know who you are so that we can best understand your responses? Most professionals would not hide behind web portals to voice their concerns or frustrations. I read that you "got to work for several very successful companies after Beholder". While it doesn't read as if you have found any one place yet, I do hope you have been able to find a workplace that best suits your needs? Were you able to determine why those other companies (that you are also no longer with) weren't a fit for you either? To respond to some of your issues, not all companies have the same exact processes in place. In terms of websites, for example, wordpress offers flexible and convenient options that allows us and our clients to enjoy the speed of production and the look and function of the end deliverable. Perhaps in the other firms you worked at, they built sites from scratch. The sites you might reference did not call for this customization. We also allow for flexibility in terms of equipment, so you had a choice. If you chose to use your own, then that was allowed, but it shouldn't be a negative when it was always your decision. Others choose to use company computers, that's their decision. "The work that did come out of Beholder was mediocre at best." - Unfortunately this is a direct reflection of any work that you may have done while at Beholder. Based on the fact that you were with us for less than one year, would indicate that your standard did not meet ours. We will not accept amateurish work and will require changes to be made to comply with standards and client needs. Your Advice to Management was to "Stop wasting the time of young people" - perhaps your experience with Beholder wasn't at all what you had imagined or expected after college. After almost 20 years in business, we have had many successful relationships with "young people", those who have gone on to great careers, keep in great contact with us, and appreciate the real-life insight we provide. There are lessons to be learned in all aspects of life and we hope you grow to have an open mind to learn from all experiences that may come your way. Even if it is to determine your comfort level and find a particular business style, format or structure that fits your needs and desires. We appreciate that it wasn't a good fit for you and wish you the best of luck in your future career path. If you would like to discuss this further, we have always been open and available for constructive conversation. All the best! Pros

The team I worked with were fun at the time and it was located close to home

Cons

They worked you like a horse and wouldn't let you leave, no matter what. They failed to pay on time, often the checks were over a week late and a few of us never saw the last month or so of wages. The majority of the staff were unpaid interns You were not allowed to take vacation days You had to pay for expenses out of your own pocket and were rarely compensated

Dear Former Employer, Thank you for your feedback. Staff were made aware prior to working at this company, that deadlines must be held accountable. We work with corporate and broadcast clients, so if that means working late or early hours or coming in on the weekends to finish projects, than it is expected for the staff assigned to do so. This is outlined prior to beginning the project, and if delays in performance by the staff or a change by the client should occur, this will directly impact time frame and performance expectations. As outlined in the employee handbook, expenses must be approved prior to purchase. Once approved, all receipts and monies due must be recorded and provided so that it can be properly reimbursed. Procedures are in place to enable approved purchases to be paid for directly by the company. If policy is not adhered to, then you will be at risk of not getting approvals. We love our interns! For over 16 years, we have fostered great relationships with local colleges and universities to offer students real-life work experience. It offers a great learning environment that helps them with their on-going education. While some enjoy the fast-paced and varied client environment, sometimes reality of an actual work experience doesn't match one's perception and may be overwhelming for some. We appreciate that it wasn't a good fit for you. We wish you the best of luck in your future career path. All the best!
