Pros

The job is pretty straightforward to learn, and most of the customers here are friendly and easygoing—except during the holiday season, though you do get extra pay for that. The team is helpful when training, but as a keyholder, you’ll be opening and closing the store on your own. It’s a good idea to take notes on key tasks and reports since there won’t always be someone around to guide you. One of the perks of the role is getting to learn about different alcoholic beverages, including high-end selections. You’ll also gain experience with store management tasks like receiving inventory and merchandising. As a keyholder, you’ll have the chance to work with vendors on seasonal displays, update pricing, print and set up promotional signage, and organize store sections as you see fit. It’s a solid opportunity to build skills while working independently.

Cons

I was scheduled to Clopen (close and open the next day) frequently. During my time working here, we experienced a robbery by a tall man wearing a mask and wielding a hammer. A case of high-value bottles, including one worth $5,000, is positioned directly in front of the cashier area and near the entrance—making it an easy target for thieves. BevMo is a risky workplace, especially since management does not invest in security due to budget issues (the store is not profitable). When I worked there, employees were expected to follow suspected thieves around the store and stand right next to them—a policy that put staff in unnecessary danger. This is not a safe work environment.

Pros

Proactive, respectful, professional, caring, and teamwork. Able to work together with little to no issues within the workplace

Cons

Scheduling issues, reliability, pay, and shift availability. Amazing during the summer and winter where there are more hours, but after there’s dry season, and it gets more hectic by the summer.

Pros

I wish I had any

Cons

I worked at the Temecula, CA location. This is by far the worst company I've ever worked for. The management is completely useless! How do you have a manager, A., with no high school education that has been at the company for almost 20 years and is still doing the same thing. Meanwhile individuals were doing cocaine in the bathroom, employees clearly intoxicated at work, employees stealing, schedules being changed without any notice, high turnover rate, overworked/undervalued employees, some employees not able to take breaks or lunches, the manager bringing in her child on occasion, and the numerous other HR and workplace violations and issues. This place should be shut down. If you are thinking about working here- don't! You'll regret it. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

Pros

It was a great part time job as a college student. They worked around my schedule for my classes and I learned a lot from my coworkers.

Cons

Being young, I didn't have any experience with the different types of beer or wine. There is no training for it so when customers come up to you and ask you for help or opinion on a type of alcohol, it was a bit embarrassing.

Pros

The people I worked with were cool

Cons

Management was disorganized, schedule was chaotic, wages were far too low for the amount of work, little room for growth, and the expectations placed on the lowest rung of Management was far too much
