Pros

- work from home days - vacation policy

Cons

- management puts an insane amount of pressure on employees for minimal benefit, if any, to the company - if you aren’t stressed, overworked, and missing your child’s birthday party - then you aren’t working hard enough - zero work life balance. company expects you to work like you have no family, hobbies, social life, or anything to do outside of the office - leadership likes to sugarcoat all of their problems with fancy speeches that they pretend are inspiring - company does a terrible job of managing client expectations. They keep telling clients we can do more and more and do it quicker until it breaks you. At Billups you’ll be given 2 days to complete a project, at any other company you would be given a week. - every day is a fire drill due to poor project and client management - leadership refuses to accept responsibility for any of the downfalls of the company and blames it on employees for not trying hard enough - terrible health benefits - everything is outsourced (IT, HR, benefits) and the company makes no effort to establish these systems internally and actually develop Billups into a real company - leadership likes to think and act Billups is the new Apple or Google but doesn’t want to actually put in the work to make their employees happy and instead blame their employees for their own lack of happiness

Pros

Nice office / location. Free coffee / soda pop, some nice people. Decent portfolio work.

Cons

Ridiculously slow development team. Poor product leadership, constant moving target. High, brutal, unexpected turnover. "Bro" culture with CEO and upper management. Leadership has zero experience developing software and it shows, painfully.

Pros

Be aware of the many fake reviews. Having worked at multiple actual software companies, this is an Advertising Agency poorly pretending to be a software company. I will say the 2-3 WFH days were nice.

Cons

The culture is an absolute horror show, which shows from the multiple fake reviews. Do not believe the positive upbeat reviews on here. You can tell they have all the same tone i.e. The same author. If I could create a time machine for one use, I would stop myself from taking this job and that would be a successful use of such a fantastic machine. It might be the correct career move for you, if you like: -Siloed Tech stacks -Nobody understands their role -Engineers MILKING the clueless owner. (It's quite the sight to behold) -Ultra cramped working conditions. (I've never seen anything like it. I think the mind set is "Jam them all together and make code" ) -Zero best practices used. ummm maybe a proper test case or two? -Ultra cliquey from engineering to management. -Incompetence abound -Consider using a whiteboard to map out an idea or for any planning. Essentially it's like this: The owner had success in advertising and now fancies himself something special. He may believe he belongs in Silicon Valley; however, his initial success has not translated over and, on top of all that, the engineering team is using the poor guy. My advice to anyone reading this is to: "Move on to the next one" Don't waste your time. It is just not worth it. If you don't believe me, go for an interview, laugh at the process, view the working conditions, and know my review is accurate.
