Pros

Some great, hardworking people work for this company. I gained some true friends working here, and so many of BR's employees are passionate, committed, super work ethic. Billy himself is so down to earth, so warm and welcoming. I learned a lot about client relationship building, and gained some great friends from my clientele.

Cons

Underpaid, overworked, lack of support. I worked so hard for the company for almost 2 years with no raise, no real review, and no support from my direct boss. She was positive and encouraging, but truth be told, I had no real support from her as I ran my store with rare visits or help from her. I was promised I would be 'taken care of' over and over again as I did my job and hers, but when I finally gave them an ultimatum about my long deserved raise, they completely low balled me, and my manager, who I had worked so hard for, easily allowed me to give my 2 weeks notice without fighting for me. I set the company up for success, helping them open a second store in my area, and then they screwed me over. (Needless to say, I worked in a higher position for 2 months with no pay raise.) This really hurt, as I'd worked so hard, turned my store around, totally staffed 2 stores for them, trained directors for them, all with no compensation. After I gave my 2 weeks notice and sent a heart felt honest letter of resignation to my boss and the partners in the company, I heard NOTHING from any of them. I was shocked and so hurt.

Pros

Great client/employee relations, family like environment with most coworkers nationwide and inspiring aesthetic.

Cons

Zero work/life balance. Low salary. Period. Particularly in comparison to sales. Feels as if the company is working against it's own employees. One(or rather now a tier) of "upper management" in the sales team have created a disgusting environment of work place politics and a "throw coworkers under the bus to get the upper hand" mentality. I watched over my tenure as one manager in particular climbed the ladder and created scapegoats at every corner to cover her tracks. No sense of job security of pay off regardless of how "valuable" you are to the company. When I started Billy Reid was Superman and thanks to this particular individual and her minions I now hold the company in the lowest regards. Salaries are WELL BELOW a livable wage and the expectation that employees are supposed to not only "live the lifestyle" but also cover company cost up front with the expectation to be reimbursed is unrealistic. When I started with the company the environment was incomparable but in the latter part of over 2 years of tenure I watched as EVERY-SINGLE-FRIEND/LOVED ONE/COWORKER was betrayed by the company they worked so hard to help build. Do not expect to succeed long term as your growth will be seen as aggressive to territorial and insecure upper management. The moment you become a threat as a valuable employee expect to find yourself in a vulnerable scapegoat position.

Pros

Awesome product, awesome designs, awesome surrounding culture. Shindig. Great following as in great clients. Small but focused. You don't have to live in NY.

Cons

Politics. Financial struggles. Still the same hours as if you lived in NY due to small teams. You live in Alabama.
