Pros

Great work/life balance. Management really cares about their employees. Decent pay.

Cons

Departments don't interact a whole lot. If you don't like the people on your team you aren't going to be happy.

Pros

Major potential in this company. I think all of the educated people working here also believe this. The hard working, dedicated people keep you also working hard. Flexible work/life balance sometimes. unless HR or friends of HR gets wind of it and tells on you. Even though they do not know how may hours you actually put in a day.

Cons

Obviously, we all know who wrote the happy review that was just posted last week. Its sad that this company can't see the red flags and major problem the this particular human resources employee gives. People will keep leaving. Its sad that so many care for so long until they are just exhausted. No one wants to leave just for the money. Yes, BMS pays much much lower than other companies like it, but we would stay if others would leave, and allow the employees that are worth keeping to actually grow the company. There are also no incentives. I think our EPIC team tries to help with this, maybe their hands are tied, who knows, but I have come from executive companies that have many more perks with much higher pay.

Pros

My co-workers were great, despite being mistreated. There may have been disgruntled feelings towards management, but we worked as a team despite the low moral because at the end of the day, we didn't do it for the company, we did it for the steady job and the jobs of our friends. Work/Life balance was flexible, but I think that's how they are able to retain most of their long-term employees. I was able to go back to school; I saw that others were able to accommodate family more than they would be able to elsewhere.

Cons

Lied to by HR, and probably management regarding salary expectations. Good work gets rewarded with more work requiring longer hours (for salary employees). Instead of being congratulated on completing an advanced degree, I was just told by management that I shouldn't expect my pay to reflect the accomplishment. This is a small company so there isn't much room for advancement beyond a senior position, which just entitles them to keep you there until all hours. I was told by others, BMS was known as a platform company: someplace you go to get the title (because it wasn't reflected in the pay) and the experience to go somewhere else. This is exactly what was done here because there are no incentives to do a good job or maintain company loyalty. So you either have poorly trained new people, or employees only in it for the stable paycheck. The company is family owned by three brothers, but from what I've heard the family feeling was gone before I got there. I think I saw all three over the time of my extended employment, but couldn't tell you which one was which. Face time with anyone above your boss was reserved for situations you didn't want to be in anyway. So I'm not sure anyone outside of our office space even knew my name when I left.
