Toxic culture with ineffective leadership and poor communication

Pros

Paid breaks, and family meal

Cons

From the outside, the company presents itself as refreshing and different from others in the industry; however, my experience was the opposite. There is a clear top-down management culture that feels insular and, at times, overly controlling. This approach filters down to general management, where there appears to be a significant lack of effective leadership. In particular, there is limited ability or willingness to properly develop, mentor, or support team members who are motivated to learn and progress. Communication is a major weakness. Rather than structured, professional dialogue, there is an overreliance on informal conversations, which can lead to a culture of gossip and subjective decision-making. This creates an environment that can feel judgmental and, at times, unprofessional. New managers are not set up for success. Responsibilities and expectations are often unclear, and roles can feel misrepresented. Feedback is frequently inconsistent and, in some cases, appears to be based on complaints or opinions rather than fair, objective assessment. Overall, the workplace culture can feel political and unsupportive, particularly for those who challenge the status quo or attempt to bring new ideas. Without significant improvements in leadership capability, communication standards, and fair management practices, it is difficult to recommend this as a positive working environment.
