Pros

Working here was truly a joy — surrounded by a fair and supportive team who helped each other, with open communication that kept the store connected. The hours were good, the systems were well-planned, and everything from drawing floor plans to making a sale was made easy and enjoyable

Cons

The office staff often lacked the competence to use available systems, relying instead on others for information. Marketing efforts were ineffective, with responsibilities frequently shifted back to store staff. Despite paying external agencies, management continued to insist their methods were successful, even when evidence suggested otherwise. Excessive micromanagement was imposed through mandatory daily reflections and detailed task logs. Although the company claims to be relocating, terminating all staff contradicts standard practices seen with other brands in ION, who retain employees during such transitions. It felt like a “Cinderella” situation — no matter how hard we worked, we were ultimately discarded while management’s focus remained elsewhere. The brand appeared to be treated primarily as a franchise revenue source rather than a valued team. I wish the company success in future staffing decisions.

Pros

I am writing to share my concerns about my experience with this company, as I believe it’s important to provide honest feedback that could potentially help potential candidate to think twice. Unfortunately, my time with this company fell significantly below expectations and is one of the worst company in Singapore to work for. Some of the key issues I faced include: 1. Lack of Communication: Management Team provide vague instructions for task leaving employees guessing about priorities, don't know what to do. There are always no critical updates from the so call owner of this company and many times information is not communicated to all employees. 2. Ignoring Employee concerns: Employees voice concerns or ask for clarification on issues and management either does not respond or dismisses them without providing any solutions. 3. Unprofessional Behavior: Criticizing employees harshly in front of peers and show not respect to all employees. The owner will take side and protect towards own people and without investigating. Lead to very toxic WORKING ENVIRONMENT. 4. Inadequate Support: Micromanage employees without providing support. Management team always display rude and dismissive attitudes towards all employees.

Cons

Joining this company at your RISK. There are many jobs out there. Think before accepting their offer. Do not dig your own GRAVE!!!!!!!

Pros

Well-known international brand with strong branding. Operations were generally stable in the beginning, and processes followed universal guidelines. Training was provided and systems were structured.

Cons

The core issue stemmed from poor ownership and management decisions by the Singapore franchise owner. Ongoing cash flow problems impacted renovations, daily operations, and overall business stability. Disputes with external partners occurred despite signed contracts, further worsening operational challenges. Capable and experienced staff were dismissed, while less suitable and incomplete teams were retained. Management placed excessive trust in a single highly paid employee without sufficient checks and balances, leading to ineffective decision-making. As a result, both BoConcept and USM brands were eventually taken over by new owners, despite the strength of the brands themselves. Multiple outlets closed over time. The failure was not due to the brands, but weak leadership, poor financial management, and lack of strategic direction.
