Pros

There are no positive aspects

Cons

Job insecurity No flexible working hours, even for remote workers (developers) - even a 10 minute delay needs to be reported to HR and justified. Toxic work environment Management ignores complaints and fails to protect subordinates Protest to doing tasks outside of Work Agreement results in being fired during probation period, without any notice

The employee who provided this review worked for Buckhill for 8 weeks, under probation. In our company’s history (10+ years in Croatia and 15 in the UK), the reviewer is the only employee to be dismissed during their probationary period. We do not wish to repeat this experience – it’s bad for us and bad for the employee. We've learned from this experience and have amended our recruitment and aptitude testing process accordingly. All new starters receive a very comprehensive 90-day development and success plan as well as peer mentors (where possible) to help them through their probation period. We want everyone to succeed and help us on our journey. We firmly believe that our job descriptions, benefits package and general terms and conditions (company regulations) reflect exactly what and who the company is. In fact I can go as far as saying that the majority of employees joined our company precisely because we’re transparent, flexible and honest about who we are and what we do. If you wish to verify the above statements of fact, we welcome you to check for yourself: https://careers.buckhill.co.uk/career-progression No employee is ever required to justify their time, only to let their colleagues know if they cannot meet a pre-agreed meeting as a professional courtesy. Aside from that, we trust our employees to get their jobs done as they see fit. As a member of the management team, I am very aware of all complaints that have been made and acted upon, and we do act upon all complaints, comments and suggestions. Every member of the company contributed to our recently launched career progression framework (known as Systematisation in Croatia), which incorporated hundreds of direct edits, comments and contributions from staff. We do not accept that our company is a “toxic work environment” and welcome any who may be curious to come and visit us, to see for themselves and draw their own conclusions.
