Don't Bother Wasting Your Time, Go Somewhere Else!
Pros
Good Insurance Benefits Pay is on par or slightly above "going rate" of competition Tuition reimbursement if you're studying in the grocery field.
Cons
Where to begin!! Departments are critically understaffed, forcing others to work extra hours (then getting lambasted for working the extra hours for the good of the department). Unrealistic expectations, goals, and little to no coaching. Promotions are given to those in "the club". If you're a hard worker, you'll be passed by while the people who do the least and know all the right connections will be put on a pedestal. Numerous accounts of favoritism witnessed, and it runs rampant in one store in particular. (A2) Had one employee being written up countless times for MULTIPLE food safety/sanitation violations. Supposed to be 4 write ups and you're terminated. Another employee committed the same offenses, and was terminated immediately while store management allowed the other offender to get away with it. Upper management is a joke to say the least! Category managers like to keep trying the same old failed ideas again and again, and if it doesn't work it's the department manager's fault! Also, any criticism or suggestions are quickly shut down by these "holier than thou" types. If you ask for clarification or understanding in regards for training purposes some employees will assist, but unfortunately this is very rare. You're on your own! Busch's has a saying, "We value our employees".......this is laughable. Especially when multiple managers hang out in the front office to gossip and talk about other employee's personal lives. Also, if you valued your employees you would listen to what they have to say right? Well guess what, they don't! Probably the worst aspect is the abysmal lack of work/life balance within the company. If you're full time you will be scheduled any shift they want you to work, it will start off by asking, then it's expected. Again, you will be lambasted for working said overtime, so that makes no sense. There is also a thing called "floating", where you are sent to other stores, often over an hour away to work a shift or more during the week. You'll get mileage........50 cents a mile, after you've driven 20 miles from your home store. Loyalty means nothing. You can work yourself to death, never see your family, make Busch's your sole focus and strive for success, and you'll eventually be swept away like trash without a second thought. After 12 years with this company, I'm glad to be out, and I will never look back. It might be a good job for a college student or retiree that needs the extra income, but if you truly care about making a difference and striving for success, this is not the company for you! Also, one last thing. When a department manager gives a good review to one of the department's hardest workers, and you force that review to be lowered twice, just to avoid giving a raise........that says a lot about how much you and the company "value" your employees.
