Pros
I've worked at CTBC Singapore for over two years since 2019.
Being a branch with just over 200+ headcount, there will understandably be limited vertical career opportunities. If you are joining with the sole aim to climb the corporate ladder, then this is not the place for you. However, if you wish to deepen your skills and even explore laterally, you will find several opportunities here. This is especially so when you take an enlightened view on the support and people around.
Recently, I noticed that there is a great example of care here when as soon as COVID-19 got serious in 2020, it was one of the first companies to enable work-from-home arrangements for all staff with strong support from HR & Management. From this episode, I can see that the firm puts our health and safety as a key priority. This has left an indelible impression on me and I continue to see that the branch is striving to make decisions to support staff to continue to work in a safe environment. I believe this caring approach will continue in future when Covid restrictions are lifted.
Overall, working here thus far has been a positive experience for me. I do have a manager who will watch my back when things fall through the cracks.
Cons
Day to day processes can be streamlined further
More transparency and focus on positive events during appraisals would be great
