Pros

The 4 on/ 4 off pattern is great as it gives you time to do other things. Other carers can be helpful and give you information.

Cons

Staff in office don't know what they are doing. Whoever makes up the rotas clearly has never done any of the runs before. A walker is expected to walk 2 miles to get to a client from the next within the allotted 5 minutes. Communication from the office isn't great When a client cancels the office don't let you know so you still turn up to be turned away or phoning on call to check-in. They also provide male carers to female-only clients. This causing distress for the client and them not getting what they need that day. Shadow shifts are with people who don't know what they are doing, have not been in the company for long and have not had any previous care experience.

Pros

Lovely clients, rapport building, a few lovely work collegues.

Cons

Exploitation, discrimination (disability), health & safety breaches, lack of concern for client well-being, toxic work environment, bullying, manipulation, no accountability when reporting bullying - gaslighted and victim blamed, unrealistic walking times on rota, unrealistic 'bonus scheme' for walkers, exploiting/ignoring Doctor's sick note conditions, shaming and ableist use of language/approach through a letter, face to face and over telephone, breaching 24/48 hr policy considering contagious bug and management knowingly putting clients at risk of contamination in their own home.

Don’t do it!

Pros

There aren’t any pros in this role.

Cons

You will always be working, on call is 6am until 10pm, you won’t have any clarity on your shifts or any meaningful support as nobody in the office communicates. Again, you will literally always be working, and even on your days off you’ll be asked to cover shifts. Very bad place to work.
