Pros

The company is somewhat generous with employees, and they do not play with your salary (which is something good for Portugal companies)

Cons

The company is in constant financial trouble, and layoffs have become a yearly routine. Senior engineers and the CTO have no real engineering competence — they spend more time playing politics and sucking up to management than actually solving problems or guiding the team. The CTO is as useful as a brick, offering zero technical leadership. The CEO is completely delusional and refuses to face the reality that the product is failing. Engineers are treated like disposable resources with no influence over the product, while people with absolutely no understanding of the technology are given full authority to make critical decisions. This toxic structure leads to chaotic priorities and a steady degradation of the product. The company fundamentally does not respect its engineers — your input won’t matter, your expertise will be ignored, and your job will never feel secure.

Pros

Very relaxed environment in general, good office spaces both in Lisbon and Santa Barbara with a fairly good vibe of community. The products are actually quite awesome and overall fun to work on.

Cons

The company is led by a clueless leadership which have been showing their true colors in a very bad way recently. The business is not flourishing and the C-Level guys don't know how to handle it and are pushing their anxiety to the team and aggravating it all. Recently nearly all senior developers left because of the above. VP and 3 Tech Leads, all resigned on the same month and are now gone. The 2 Leads that are left are pretty much holding the place together by threads and putting sense into what the leadership tries to push down. On that note, that is constantly changing. Apart from a few things, they never stick to any plan. Constantly pivoting and leaving stuff unfinished, altering teams, moving people around with lack of clear purpose, etc.. At times it almost looks like it's their way to be busy...

Everyone is very friendly, and motivated by results. Team culture is something that is always present, and you're motivated to help and also be helped.

Cons

Steady decrease of team events since being acquired by a PE firm.
